IPPP UPDATE

Hong Kong Trade Development Council held the 5th Belt and Road Summit on 30 November-1 December this year, which was a premier international platform for promoting business collaboration along the Belt and Road. The Summit gathered senior government officials and business leaders from countries and regions along and beyond the Belt and Road to exchange insights on multilateral co-operation and explore concrete business opportunities.

Our Institution as one of the important platforms to promote Hong Kong as the commercial hub for the Belt and Road, promotes exchange of knowledge in relation to the Public Private Partnerships infrastructure projects, IPPP was invited to participate in the Third Annual Roundtable discussion forum on 1 December. Our Chairman Mr. Walter Chan and Council Member Professor MW Chan on behalf of IPPP had taken part in this first-ever full virtual conference.

We found the discussion inspiring, and had a fruitful time listening the experts, as how to harness new technologies to cope with the impact of the pandemic and cooperation between HK and other Belt and Road economies in developing COVID-19 technology solutions. It also enlightened how Hong Kong as a platform to capture opportunities arising from the growth of ASEAN and Greater Bay Area.

This Global Forum had evolved to becoming an international alliance gathering 154 business chambers, industry associations and public organizations across 44 countries and regions.  The Annual Roundtable serves as a global meeting place for participants to continue the dialogues throughout the year.  To this end, IPPP members can make full use of the dedicated online communication platform developed under the Global Forum’s portal (www.beltandroadglobalforum.com) to establish contacts and communicate with their respective counterparts from other parts of the world.
